SYX File Programs
The files on the Sysex Patch Files page are in SYX format, a cross-platform format for storing System Exclusive data. A number of programs for MacOS, Windows, Amigas, and Ataris will allow you to transmit these files to the Wavestation. Many of these programs are freeware or shareware.
General Info and Suggestions
Thanks to Ben Hall for some of this information!
For links to programs other than those listed below - or if any of the links below go stale - check the Harmony Central web site.
Emagic's universal editor/librarian, SoundDiver, can import SYX files.. For more information, see Emagic's website.
Opcode's Galaxy (now sadly unsupported) can import SYX files.
With some SYX files, you may need to use the file menu's "Open Any" command, as opposed to simply "Open." This is because the file type and creator may not be set correctly when files have originated on other operating systems. You can also simply drag-and-drop SysEx files onto the application, and they will be recognized regardless of file type and creator.
Cakewalk will load SYX files.
Ben Hall says, "It's the only decent sysex dumper that can handle bigg-ish dumps (ahem)."
This utility, included with Bars'n'Pipes, will handle SYX file dumps.
