Goleta Gap Fire, 11:30 PM 7-2-08

The Goleta Gap Fire at 11:30 PM on Wednesday July 2, viewed from the top of a parking garage at UCSB. All of the Santa Barbara area had lost electricity early in the evening, and at this point the power was still out in Goleta; the lights on the road in the foreground were presumably powered by UCSB's generators. The lights in the mid-field are the Santa Barbara airport (also presumably powered by backup generators), which is on a plain below UCSB; note the reflection of the fire in the marshy lands at the right of the frame.
